六、阅读理解(二) (每小题2分,共10分)
I was always interested in the environment, but I never imagined that this would lead me to my internship (实习生) at the EPA (美国环境保护局)!
It all started when my high school’s Green Team won the PEYA (总统环保青年奖) last year. Out of all the PEYA contestants (竞争者),Tahoma’s Green Team did the best job of protecting the environment.
From January 2012 to March 2013, Tahoma High School finished five programs, for everything from paper to metal. Led by Green Team President, Cort Hammond, Tahoma’s Green Team was able to start the program at our school and the school became a Level One Green School. We saved the school $24,000 through the program.
As you arrive at the school, you can see there are five solar panels (太阳能板) which produce some of the energy we use every day. There are recycling (回收) boxes in every classroom and every light switch (开关) has a note about turning off the lights when leaving the room.
All of the work helped me work with the people in EPA to protect our environment. It will always be a special experience in my life.
