Teaching Procedures:
Part One Pre-listening
Activity 1 Lead-in
T: Hello, everyone! We have learnt a lot about Zhalong Nature Reserve. What facts do you remember about Zhalong ? Do you want to know more about Zhalong?
Activity 2 Have a discussion about facts about Zhalong
T: Please look at the test about Zhalong in Part A1 on page 86. Answer as many questions as you can. You may discuss with your classmates.
Part Two While-listening
Activity 3 Listen to the tape and try to find out the correct answers, and then put a tick in the second box.
T: We have discussed what we knew about Zhalong, now listen to the radio programme and see if your guessing are right. Please put a tick in the second box. 1. Check the answers.
2. Read the passage quickly and answer the questions:
(1)When did Zhalong become one of the world’s most important wetlands?
(2)How many hectares does the reserve have?
(3)What do the birds eat?
(4)What can birdwatchers see in Zhalong?
(5)When is the World Wetlands Day?
Activity 4 Listen to the tape again and help Sandy finish the report.
T:Now Millie is writing a report on Zhalong. Look at Part A3. Let’s listen to the radio programme again. Help her finish the report. Now, let’s check the answers.

Part Three Post-reading
Activity 6 Talk about Zhalong Nature Reserve.
T: Now if you are a guide, can you introduce some facts about Zhalong Nature Reserve to the foreign visitors. Discuss in your group and I’ll ask some of you to come to the front and act it out.
Part Four Speak up
Activity 1 listen to the tape and find out the date and the time.
T:Are you interested in Zhalong Nature Reserve now? Do you want to go birdwatching there? You can invite some friends to go with them. Sandy would like to invite Daniel to go birdwatching with her. Please listen to the tape and answer two questions.
1) On which day do they plan to go birdwatching?
2) What time does it start and finish?
Activity 2 Read after the tape and talk about how to invite others and how to reply to other’s invitation.
T: Hold your books, please read after the tape, girls are Sandy, boys are Daniel.
T: Now, if you want to invite your friends, what can you say and if your friends invite you, what can you answer. Discuss your group.
Activity 3 Work in pairs and make up a new conversation.
T: Use Daniel and Sandy’s conversation as a model. Suppose your cousin asks you to go birdwatching. Encourage some pairs to act their dialogue in front of the whole class.
Activity 4 Make up another conversation about outing.
T:If you want to invite your friend Daniel to an outing.
